CABINTEELY
Cabinteely will welcome Premier Division opposition to Stradbrook for the very first time on Easter Monday. Cabo are set to entertain Shamrock Rovers when proceedings get underway at 7PM.
Eddie Gormley’s side have adjusted to life as a League of Ireland team a lot better than many had originally expected as they got off to a two game winning start. However since then results have been harder to come by with slender defeats to Shelbourne and Cobh Ramblers recently halting their momentum.
They will however take heart from their 1-0 home victory over Waterford United and their opening day 1-0 home victory over Wexford Youths as they look to make Blackrock’s rugby ground somewhat of a fortress, with Gormley likely to have pointed out to his players this past week that the highly rated Shamrock Rovers side will not be used to playing at such a venue.
SHAMROCK ROVERS
It would take a ridiculously optimistic, or possibly even deluded individual to bank on anything other than a comfortable victory for the Tallaght side.
Fenlon’s men easily dispatched of Galway United on Friday night in a game which Rovers fans had marked as must win following two scoreless draws in their previous two home games. The victory will have been made all the sweeter with the knowledge that it was done without their lead talisman, in the form of Danny North.
Despite the former Bohs boss being expected to name a line up filled with the clubs youth and reserve players the bookies are still rating Rovers chances of losing at 12/1 which tells its own story. A capacity crowd is expected at Stradbrook and few amongst them will expect to see Cabinteely leaving their new found home with a place in the next round of the EA Sports Cup.
