League Report: Sligo Rovers 0 - 1 Dundalk

SLIGO Rovers have fallen to their second defeat in as many weeks following a 1-0 defeat to Dundalk at The Showgrounds on Saturday evening.
In a game with little of note over 90 minutes bar a sending off, a chance right at the death proved decisive as Massey returned to Sligo to haunt Ian Baraclough’s side again.
Rovers found themselves a man down after just ten minutes when Ross Gaynor tugged the jersey of Darren Meenan and was shown a straight red card having been the last man back.
The first half produced extremely little in terms of chances, John Mountney with the best effort when his first chance was saved by Gary Rogers before seeing a follow-up shot hit the post and fall into the hands of the ‘keeper.
Dundalk’s Daryl Horgan miraculously remained on the pitch early in the second-half when he wrestled John Russell to the ground. Referee Dave McKeon only showed yellow on this occasion.
The second half was much the same in terms of chances, but it was still Dundalk crafted the chances with substitute David McMillan coming closest in the regulation time, heading narrowly wide.
With the game looking set to be a stalemate, Dane Massey struck in the second minute of injury-time when he rose high in the box to meet Ruaidhri Higgins corner and head home a winner for The Lilywhites.
