League Report: Derry City 5 - 0 Bray Wanderers

Derry entertained the home fans at the Brandywell on Sunday evening thumping Bray Wanderers 5-0 as Rory Patterson and Patrick McEleney both grabbed a brace.
The first chance came after eight minutes when Barry Molloy caught onto a lofted ball over the defence but couldn't connect with it properly and the Bray keeper, Stephen McGuinness, made a comfortable save.
Derry were beginning to get a foot hold in the game and had another chance not long after with Rory Patterson pulling his shot wide after decent work on the edge of the box.
The first goal came after 12 minutes of play when Patrick McEleney let fly from 30 yards and McGuinness could do nothing about it as it flew into his top corner.
Bray didn't have a sight at goal until the 20 minute mark when Graham Kelly hit a decent strike from outside the box but Ger Doherty dealt with it comfortably.
Patrick McEleney then scored his and Derry's second when Patterson played a wonderful 40 yard cross field pass into his feet and he lobbed the visiting keeper with pin point accuracy. A finish very fitting for the assist from Patterson.
Patterson had two opportunities of his own just before half time to get his name on the score sheet firstly failing to put away a nice cross into the striker and secondly a free kick just outside the penalty area which he put straight at McGuinness in the Bray goal.
The second half began rather scrappy but Derry didn't take too long to resume from where they left off, manufacturing two good goal scoring opportunities. Firstly Barry McNamee played in Patterson but his cross couldn't be met and then Derry, again, got in behind the Bray defence but another cross from Patterson failed to be converted.
Bray had a chance on the hour mark and could have pulled a goal back but the effort went over the bar.
Patterson, after 61 minutes, got his reward for his good play with a tap in inside the 6-yard box and went on to add another just 10 minutes later when an incoming corner was flicked on at the front post and Patterson volleyed the ball home. A great finish for his fifth goal in four days.
Derry's new recruit Stephen Dooley came on for his first appearance and it wasn’t long until he got his first goal for the club finishing nicely from 10 yards.
That goal rounded off the day for a rampant Derry side against a disappointing Bray side who, despite, having decent spells of possession, just couldn't create any chances of real note.
