COBH RAMBLERS
Bottom side Cobh Ramblers will be hoping Saturday’s SSE Airtitricy First Division encounter with Wexford Youths at St. Coleman’s Park will be the night they claim their first three points of the season. Kick off 7.45pm.
Eight games have already been played this season and Cobh are already struggling with only two points from two home draws. Despite the poor start however, The Rams are actually unbeaten at home.
Cobh comes into this game on the back of a poor performance and a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Shamrock Rovers ‘B’ up in Tallaght.
In team news, Andrew Bhandarkar remains out with his long term groin injury for the Rams. It is hoped that Sean O’Mahony returns from the toe injury that forced him off against Shamrock Rovers.
WEXFORD YOUTHS
Wexford Youths claimed a vital scalp last weekend with their 1-0 home win over previously unbeaten and current league leaders, Shelbourne FC. An Eric Molloy winner in the 93rd minute stunned the Dublin side, and that win helps keep Youths in second position in the league.
Wexford and Cobh met in gameweek two at Ferrycarrig Park with the former coming out on top with a 3-2 win in a game that saw four yellow cards, a penalty and a red card.
While Youths have gone from strength to strength, The Rams’ season has not been an enjoyable one. The Cork side have conceded 18 goals in eight games and Dave Hill’s side are currently winless.
Youths currently lie in second place in the league, and while their season has looks promising, the concession of ten goals points to a wobbly defence which may prove costly to Shane Keegan’s troop’s down the line.
Both teams will face off again on Monday this time in the EA Sports Cup at Ferrycarrig Park.
