COBH RAMBLERS
Cobh head into this game in a downward spiral having been on the receiving end of some recent heavy defeats. Having conceded nine goals over their past two games they will be keen to put that behind them when they welcome Longford Town to Cork on Monday afternoon of this June Bank Holiday weekend. Kick Off is set for 3.00 pm.
Cobh have conceded an amazing 32 goals over their twelve games this season whilst they have only managed to find the net on five occasions thus far this campaign.
Cobh at 9/1 to turn over Tony Cousins’ team which reflects this season’s form rather their head-to-head record. Cobh have not had the better of their contests but five wins from 16 is not catastrophic.
Cobh won one of the four games played in 2013, beating Longford 4-3 at St Colman’s Park last July. But they lost the other three league encounters, and by some quite spectacular scorelines. Longford won 4-3 in March, 5-1 in May, and 7-2 in September. So anyone who saw all four matches will have been treated to 29 goals!
LONGFORD TOWN
Longford will head into this game in buoyant mood compared to the home side having managed to overcome Shamrock Rovers B team 6-0 on Friday night.
Don Cowan, Mark Salmon, Lorcan Shannon, Gary Shaw and a brace from David O'Sullivan ensured that Longford recorded a comprehensive victory.
The last time Longford met Cobh Ramblers, little over two weeks ago, two goals from David O'Sullivan saw the Midlands side win out in comfortable fashion.
Longford sit just five points off the top of the table and with two games in hand they will very much want to show current leaders Shelbourne that they are a force to be reckoned with in the race for automatic promotion.
Referee: Shane Dunphy
