SHAMROCK Rovers recorded an impressive 1-0 victory over Galway WFC last week and will be determined to build on that when Cork Women’s FC visit AUL Complex.
Cork produced a disciplined first half against DLR last week before failing away in the second half and losing 3-0. The Rebel County outfit have just two goals in their 17 games this term so that statistic will be something they target this weekend.
Hoops boss Stephen Craig said: “It was a very good result last week. We probably got a bit of luck that we haven’t had this season. It was long overdue.
“The girls worked very hard. Galway hit the bar and in the past that would have gone in. We’re hoping to record back to back wins for the first time but there’s no pressure, we just want them to enjoy playing.”
Kate McKeever is still out for Rovers. Cork are still missing Michelle Browne and Linda McNamara while Megan Carroll is doubtful.
“We got another game to half-time at 0-0 last week and with four games left we’re looking for something better in one of those. Rovers are closer to us than the rest but put six past us the last time we met so we won’t be targeting this game specifically,” said Cork’s Chris O’Mahony.
