Peamount United v Wexford Youth Women's AFC
- Extratime Team
- Sun, Dec 08 2013
PEAMOUNT United will host Wexford Youths at Greenogue on Sunday knowing that they can’t afford to drop any points if they are to maintain their pursuit of leaders Raheny United.
Eileen Gleeson’s side led 2-0 in the battle with their biggest rivals last week but were unfortunate not to hang on for the victory as the game ended 2-2.
Gleeson continues to operate without Sara Lawlor (knee) but Caroline Thorpe is available after signing from Raheny.
“We were disappointed not to get the win on the second half performance last week,” said Gleeson. “After being 2-0 up it was disappointing not to go on and win it. Raheny is the most competitive game and we’re on a par squad wise so the games between us are very important.
“That game is done now. We can’t take anything for granted and the focus is on Wexford. They’ll be dogged and determined and the scoreline the last time the sides met didn’t show how well they’d played that day.”
Wexford continue to work without their long term injury absentees while Lucy Sherwin is a doubt after she picked up a knock in Castlebar last week.
Peter Doyle said: “It’s a big challenge. We always give 100 per cent against Peamount. We were happy with the performance last week so won’t be overawed. We’re looking to get a good result.”
