PEAMOUNT United host Cork Women’s FC after beating the Leesiders 8-0 in midweek. Eileen Gleeson’s side must look to claim the three points on Sunday and hope for Shamrock Rovers to shock Raheny and send the title race to a play-off.
“It’s the last game in the league and we’ll be ready to go. It’s been hard for Cork this season. It’s a credit to their girls to keep playing as it can’t be easy for them. No disrespect to them but it’s hard to motivate people in that situation,” she said.
“Our girls played well in Cork and scored a few nice goals. It was great for Stephanie Roche to score five goals. We have to go and do our job on Sunday and look to get three points. It’s out of our hands what happens in the other game.”
Julie-Ann Russell is a doubt for Peamount with a hand injury while Cork have a depleted squad but will round up the troops to see out a nightmare campaign.
“It’s been a disappointing year but we will put one last effort in to see out the season and then look to build on our plans to improve matters next season,” said Chris O’Mahony.
