UCD 0 - 3 Sligo Rovers

Sligo Rovers kept the pressure on Pats and Dundalk at the top of the table as they recorded a comfortable victory over UCD.
Two wonder strikes from Kieran Djilali and Joseph Ndo including the latter scoring direct from a corner kick to go along side a late Danny North goal allowed Ian Baraclough's men to head home with the three points in the bag.
In a slow opening to the game we were left waiting five minutes for the first shot of the game. When it came it very nearly resulted in the home side taking an early lead as a Sean Russell cross was poked goalwards by Robbie Creevy only for Joseph Ndo to get the decisive block on the line allowing the Sligo defence to clear the ball to safety.
Just two minutes later another corner forced Gary Rogers to make a save as Sean Russell played a short one two with Craig Walsh before attempting a floated shot from the edge of the area. The effort lacked the venom to beat Rogers who rose comfortably to catch the ball.
The game then went quiet for a long period of time before Iarfhlaith Davoren rifled an effort just wide from 25 yards out as the left back found himself in an attacking position.
Moments later from a corner kick Sligo believed referee Rob Rogers should have awarded them a penalty for a handball by a UCD player in the box. However the man in charge saw differently but the ball did fall to Joseph Ndo who smashed over from eight yards out.
The game finally exploded into life as we approached the half hour mark as Ger Barron nearly had a moment to forget. The usually reliable goalkeeper sliced at a back pass which allowed Aaron Greene in. The Sligo player however decided that instead of shooting from 7 yards out he would instead play the ball back towards a group of onrushing players.
It proved to be the wrong option as the ball was hit goal wards Hugh Douglas managed to do his best impression of some miracle defending by heading the ball clear off the line when it looked certain that it would result in a goal.
With half time fast approaching Joseph Ndo went closest for Sligo as he forced his way through a pile of players to shoot just wide from the edge of the box.
Kieran Djilali then opened the goal scoring with a fantastic strike just five minutes into the second half as the English born midfielder let fly with a looping effort from the edge of the box that went over Ger Barron and into the top right hand corner of the UCD goal.
Just fifteen minutes after Djilali scored a fantastic goal Joseph Ndo scored an even better one as the former Cameroon international managed to score directly from a corner kick.
Sligo continued to look dangerous as Danny North looked to get his first goal of the game by spinning on the edge of the box. The Sligo striker however failed to hit the target as he was forced to watch his shot creep wide of Barron's post.
A double substitution by Ian Baraclough signalled that he felt the game was now in the bag. Gavin Peers looked to put the Bit O' Red further in front but his header from an Aaron Greene corner failed to stay under the crossbar.
With just one minute to go in normal time Danny North did finally got the goal he deserved. Some more great play from Aaron Greene down the left wing saw Ger Barron come off his line which allowed Greene to spread the ball across the box for North to tap into an empty net from six yards out.
That was how it would end with Sligo coming away with a very comfortable victory whilst UCD certainly did not disgrace themselves despite the large margin of defeat.
