BOHEMIANS
A young Bohs side welcome Declan Devine's Derry City side to Dalymount Park on Friday night. Kick-off is pencilled in for 7.45pm
Owen Heary has now gone back into an assistant manager role as Bobby Browne takes charge of the Gypsies. Heary had served the maximum time allowed for a caretaker boss so he was forced to hand the reigns over to Browne. However speaking ahead of the game Heary had this to say.
“Last week we played very well and got our just reward. But this weekend is even bigger, because if we match the results of the clubs around us, or even better them, it would take us out of the bottom three.
“If we win the two games, effectively we’re safe. I don’t want to be waiting until the last two games. I’d like to put this issue to bed this weekend.”
Bohs have struggled against Derry this season and have yet to beat the Candystripes in three attempts. The home side will have a full strength team to choose from and the management team have admitted that they will have plenty of food for thought ahead of this tie.
“There are other players there, who are maybe not getting on to the bench and they’re disappointed. But they’re not letting it get to them. They’re pushing the team on and waiting for their chance, and it might come sooner than they think.”
Anto Murphy will be involved in a late fitness test although Neil Yadolahi and Daniel Byrne should be able replacements if needed. Browne and Heary may opt not to risk Murphy as the Gypsies also have a game against Limerick on Monday evening.
DERRY CITY
Derry have badly struggled for form in the second half of the season and will be viewing this game as a game they really need to win. Derry currently sit in fourth place six points ahead of Shamrock Rovers so Declan Devine will be hoping to at least keep the gap at six if not extend it as they chase Sligo for third.
Derry have three players who have been ruled out while a further two must prove they have sufficiently recovered from injury if they are to play any part in Friday evenings fixture.
The injured list currently contains Stewart Greacen, Kevin Deery and Thomas Crawly are all definitely out. Paddy Kavanagh and Eoghan Osbourne on the other hand will be game time decisions for Declan Devine.
"We have been very confident in training during the week after last Friday night win over Bray Wanderers, but we know that we will need to carry this confidence into the game against a Bohemians, they are a side who have had several good results lately, the reports we received on last weekend's win over Shelbourne were very positive and have made sure that we go into the game very cautious, games against Bohemians have in the past been very tight, tense affairs and I expect the game on Friday evening to be no different."
