Waterford United 1 - 1 Longford Town

A tenth league goal of the season by Longford Town striker David O'Sullivan gave the leaders a late share of the spoils against Waterford United in the League of Ireland First Division at the RSC on Friday night.
O'Sullivan pounced with just two minutes remaining on the clock to fire home from close range after the hosts failed to clear a Keith Gillespie right-wing free kick when it looked as if the home side had done enough to win the tie.
It was Michael Coady that gave Waterford the lead on 15 minutes when he gave keeper Chris Bennion little chance with a fantastic close range finish after some great build up work involving both Daragh Walshe and Paudie Quinn.
Walshe twice went close to doubling the Blues lead but he was denied superbly by Bennion four minutes before the half time break after the home side bossed the opening half.
O'Sullivan had a brilliant chip just three minutes into the second half superbly tipped onto the post by keeper Craig Hyland before Noel Haverty saw an overhead kick on 53 minutes come crashing back off the underside of the crossbar.
It looked as if Waterford had done enough to win the game as they survived the Longford onslaught but it was O'Sullivan who had the last laugh in a game that ended in deserved stalemate overall.
