SALTHILL DEVON
Salthill are still chasing their first win of the season, the Galway side are rooted to the bottom of the division with three draws. They almost recorded their first win in Athlone, but they surrendered a lead to only leave with a share of the spoils.
Two of Devon’s draws have come in Drom, they held their Galway rivals Mervue to a 0-0 draw on May 5th.
Only twice this season have Salthill been beaten by more than the odd goal, 2-1 scorelines are common for the Connacht side. One of those heavy defeats came in the last game as they lost 3-0 to Wexford Youths.
Confidence will be low in the Salthill camp, without a win and trailing Cobh by eight points it’s hard to see where the points will come from.
ATHLONE TOWN
Roddy Collins’ Athlone Town travel to Drom looking to put another win on the board after failing to take all three from Cobh last week.
Athlone are still very much in the hunt for promotion, but could rue dropped points. They were forced to come from behind and salvage a 3-3 draw when these sides met last.
Roddy Collins has only one injury worry, although it is a big one, as Philly Gorman is a doubt for Friday night’s game.
Consistency has been a real problem for Athlone, they have failed to put back-to-back wins this season, only once have they had two consecutive results and that was two draws.
Ryan Coombes has been a real revelation for Athlone, the midfielder has been the real spark in Roddy’s attack.
