Sligo Rovers kicked off their pre-season schedule with a 3-0 victory over a Sligo/Leitrim representative side at McSharry Park on Wednesday evening.
The Bit O' Red played a number of first team players, trialists and Under-19 players while the Sligo/Leitrim side featured some ex-Rovers players such as Christopher Kelly and Mark McGoldrick.
It was a fairly even game for much of the first half, but it was the Airtricity League Champions who entered the half-time break with the lead as trialist Conor Fitzpatrick found the back of the net with a well struck effort from the edge of the box after connecting with an Iarfhlaith Davoren cross.
Ian Baraclough introduced ten players to the game for the start of the second half, including new signings Evan McMillan and Aaron Greene.
With just under half an hour to go, Rovers deservedly doubled their lead when Miguel Herlein, a trialist from Portugal, picked out Liam Martin with a great through ball which the striker finished comfortably.
Greene made it 3-0 as the game in the final ten minutes of the game as he went on a solo run from midfield before launching a powerful strike at goal from just outside the box that flew past Stephen Geraghty.
There could have been even more goals in the dying minutes through Rafael Cretaro and Pascal Millien, but both players saw their efforts hit the woodwork.
