LONGFORD TOWN
Longford Town will be hoping to record their 10th win in 12 games when they welcome bottom side SD Galway to Flancare Park on Friday evening (kick-off 7.45pm).
Sitting four points clear at the top of the First Division table the Town have been in excellent form this season; with just one draw and one defeat. That draw came away to SD Galway. It was a game that the home side deserved something out of but they got their equalising goal in controversial circumstances.
Town will be hoping to put that result right on Friday and in doing so keep a gap between themselves and second place Limerick.
They’ll be buoyed up by last weekend’s 2-0 win against Waterford United in the RSC. Substitute Austin Skelly made a huge impact when he was introduced; scored one and made the other. He’ll be pushing for a place in the starting line-up.
For the first time this season Town manager Tony Cousins is happy to report that he has everyone available for this game.
SD GALWAY
Bottom of the table SD Galway will travel to Flancare Park confident they can take points off leaders Longford Town for the second time this season.
The Galway side sit bottom of the table two points adrift of their rivals Mervue Utd and are still without a win this season.
They were defeated 5-2 by Limerick at home last weekend but despite the scoreline they performed well. In the end it was Limerick’s class that proved to be the difference.
Not since the first game of the season has manager Tony Mannion had a full-strength squad to choose from. For the trip to the Midlands they are without a number of players again. Mickey Gilmore, Oscar Simbanda, Kieran Foley and Paddy Quinlan are all out injured while Mixie Harty and James Whelan (work commitments) are doubts. Nicky Curran is still out through suspension.
They do however have players back in the squad for this game; Liam Grant, Brian Geraghty and Brian Gaffney.
Referee: Sean Grant (Wexford)
