Republic of Ireland Under-21 Head Coach Noel King has a fully fit squad to choose from for Monday night’s UEFA U-21 European Championship qualifier against Liechtenstein at the Showgrounds in Sligo (7.30pm).
All 18 members of the original squad reported for duty on Saturday and preparations have gone well over the weekend.
Having claimed six points out of a possible nine in their opening three ties, Ireland can keep on the tails of pacesetters in the group, Italy and Turkey, with another victory at the Sligo venue they’ve won both games played so far this season.
Liechtenstein caused Ireland a scare in last month’s away fixture in Eschen when they swept into an early lead only for hat-trick hero James Collins to inspire Ireland’s comeback that yielded a 4-1 win.
King insists his side must remain professional again on Monday as they bid to maintain their prospects of reaching the 2013 European Championships in Israel.
“We saw for ourselves in the last game that Liechtenstein are well capable of being resolute and creating a few chances,” said King.
“Our players know that full concentration will be required to get the result they want to keep our good start to the group going.
“The Showgrounds pitch is good, which is important, and the people have been very supportive by coming along in great numbers.
“We have won two on the trot there, something I'm delighted about, and it would be nice to get another victory from the Liechtenstein game.”
Tickets will be on sale from club reception Sligo Rovers FC, The Showgrounds, from the following times:
Monday, November 14: 10.00am to kick off 19.30pm
Tickets are priced: Adults €5, Children €2.
