St Pats will be hoping to continue their six game unbeaten run when they face Sligo Rovers at Richmond Park on Thursday evening. (KO 7.45 pm)
Pete Mahon’s side have not been defeated since these two clubs met back in April when the Bit O’Red recorded a 2-0 victory. Since then, Sligo have had mixed results, most recently completing a comfortable 3-0 win over strugglers Galway United.
The only injury concern for The Saints is captain Conor Kenna who will once again miss out with a knee injury. Danny North looks set to return after he missed Friday’s game against Bohemians. Shane McFaul was back for that game as a substitute, while David Mulcahy will return after a lengthy absence.
Pete Mahon has given Evan McMillan the job of looking after Eoin Doyle who he acknowledges has been in fine form recently:”The style of football played by Paul Cook’s side make Sligo everyone’s favourite team to watch. They have quality all over the pitch, including top scorer Eoin Doyle. Evan (McMillan) will be tasked with marking Eoin and I expect an interesting battle between them. Defensively we have been very good of late and we will be looking for another clean sheet tomorrow.”
Paul Cook has no injury concerns or suspensions. Striker Eoin Doyle will be hoping to continue his recent form and add to his tally of 11 goals this season. Cook is happy with the way Sligo have started but is wary of the threat of St Pats: “We have a lot of players on form now and we look like we’re starting to find our groove now, rather than much later in the season like last year. That doesn’t mean we’re going to go out and beat St Patrick’s tomorrow and it doesn’t mean we’re going to lose.”
