Drogheda United -v- Galway United

Hunky Dorys Park will be the site of a basement battle tonight as Galway United and Drogheda United face off in what is a massive six pointer for the Tribesmen. Kick-Off 7.45pm.
Drogheda currently lead Sean Connor’s side by six points and they have their eyes fixed on UCD as they look to guarantee their Premier Division place.
The Boynesiders were rather unfortunate not to get a point last week when Gary Twigg popped up in the 94th minute to bang the winner for Shamrock Rovers. It was a rather different story for Galway as they were on the wrong end of an 8-0 hammer at the Showgrounds by Sligo Rovers.
However, Drogheda have not only lost their last four games on the bounce, slightly more worryingly is the fact that they have also failed to score in these last matches. Mick Cooke’s side has been short on goalscorers this year but with Galway’s defensive woes they might be alright.
Mick Cooke remains confident coming into this game, but he isn’t willing to underestimate his opponents. “We will be hoping to win tomorrow night, but it is not the be all and end all if we don't win. Galway need the points more than us and this will be their cup final. They will be coming here looking to win and we won’t underestimate them at all.”
“We were unlucky last week, but you live and learn. If we can put in the same performance as that then we should be doing well,” added the manager.
Sean Connor will be without long-term injury victims Johnny Keane and Sean Kelly while Enda Curran is also out with damaged cartilage in his knee. And if this were not bad enough they will have to travel without the suspended duo of Mikey Gilmore and Eduardo Dusi.
Mick Cooke on the other hand has only to deal without long-term absentee Jack Flynn and Colm O’Brien. The former Mons boss has added several new faces to the Drogheda squad and should have enough for a rather timid Galway.
