Struggling Waterford United welcome bottom of the table Salthill Devon to the RSC on Friday evening with both teams desperate for the three points. Kick-off 7.45pm.
Both sides come into the game on the back of poor results. Waterford United have lost their last two league games, 1-0 defeats against Monaghan United and Finn Harps. Salthill Devon on the other hand are facing into their fifth defeat in a row, including a 2-1 FAI Cup defeat to Sheriff YC.
The only positive for Blues caretaker boss Paul O’Brien was the 3-0 win against New Ross Celtic in the FAI Cup, though the impressive debut from Adam McSharry should also bring confidence to the side.
The manor of last weekend’s defeat for Salthill against Monaghan United was a disappointment, having lead 2-1 before eventually losing 5-2. The Galway-side should take something from knowing that their only win this season was away from home, while the Blues have scored just three goals in the RSC.
The head-to-head record supports the home team, who are unbeaten in their four encounters to date, with the only previous meeting at the RSC ending in an 8-0 rout in June of last season.
Waterford United are be boosted the signing of Paul Walsh from local side Bohemians, who is expected to feature in the squad for Friday's game. David Breen, the defender redeployed to great effect in the midfield, misses out due to an ankle injury. Salthill Devon are without Victor Collins and Eugene Greaney who are both suspended for the game.
