Tuesday night’s clash sees Bray Wanderers travel to the Morton Stadium to face Sporting Fingal in a bid to claim their second win of the season (kick-off 7.45pm).
A shock 3-2 win over Dundalk will give Bray some hope going into this tie, but Sporting are still massive favourites.
History does not bode well for Bray either and the Seagulls have never beaten Sporting Fingal- losing three of the four fixtures between the sides so far.
Sporting Fingal manager Liam Buckley will be without no less than four defenders, as John Frost, Shaun Maher, Kenny Browne and Stephen Paisley are all absent through injury or suspension (Browne).
“We’ll have to juggle things around in defence but I’ve full faith in my players' ability to be versatile” says Buckley.
“Midfielder Shaun Williams did a fantastic job for us at Sligo Rovers when slotting in at left-back. It’s unfortunate that we have virtually a full defence missing but, while one door closes, another opens to gives others an opportunity to impress.”
Bray Wanderers have a number of players missing or doubtful but manager Eddie Gormley was somewhat less optimistic.
"I'll be looking for a big improvement on Tuesday night. If we play as we did in the first half last Friday [against Galway United], Fingal could be out of sight by half time".
Gormley was brutally honest when assessing his team’s performance against Galway United. "We didn't play well. We had no cohesion and this was probably down to the fact that we had seven first teamers missing.
The last fifteen to twenty minutes were like what we are about, we put them under pressure and got in some good crosses and hit the post but we were disappointing" added Gormley.
