Bohemians travel to Sligo on Tuesday night for the Airtricity Premier Division clash hoping to close the gap on Shamrock Rovers to a single point (kick-off 7.45pm). A win for the home side will move them on goal difference into third place ahead of St. Patrick’s Athletic.
On Saturday, Sligo progressed into the semi-final of the FAI Cup with a three nil victory over Monaghan United. Gary McCabe served his suspension on Saturday and will return for the Bit ‘o’ Red.
Several players are carrying minor injuries, with Paul Cook set to make a decision over their selection with the EA Sports Cup final due to take place on Saturday evening. Long-term injury victims Mauro Almeida and Richard Brush the only definite absentees.
Bohemians go into this game buoyed up by confident victories in league and cup. “The lads are up for the games, and always looking forward to the next one,” said Bohemians manager Pat Fenlon.
With the team in this mood bringing forward the Sligo game was no handicap to Bohemians, Fenlon said. “It might be worse for Sligo, who also have to think ahead to their league cup final on Saturday.”
The date for next month’s potentially decisive home match against Shamrock Rovers has still not been confirmed. “It’s ridiculous not knowing what games lie ahead,” commented Fenlon.
Defender Jason McGuinness, who has had a series of impressive performances since his return to the starting line-up, went off injured (hamstring) in Friday’s cup match against Bray Wanderers and will not be available. Gareth McGlynn who has also played a vital role in the recent run of victories faces a fitness test on an injured knee.
Anto Murphy and Stephen Gray remain out with long-term Achilles injuries.
