Bray Wanderers registered only their second win of the league campaign as they defeated nine man Drogheda United by two goals to nil at United Park on Friday night.
Drogheda started the brighter of the two teams however as the half wore on Wanderers came into the game more. It was an entertaining first 45 but no real incidents of note to mention.
The second half was similar, the home team starting better. Bray came to life after 50 minutes played with the opening goal coming five minutes later through forward John Mulroy. He linked up well with Danny O'Connor and Jake Kelly to create the chance.
Bray extended their lead on 75 minutes. Jake Kelly was on hand to fire home from a Daire Doyle cross.
Drogheda’s night got worse on 80 minutes when Corie Treacy lunged into a two footed tackle on early substitute Chris Shields and referee Neil Doyle sent the former u18 International for an early shower.
Wanderers tried to add to their tally on the night but efforts from Shane O'Neill, Mulroy and Kelly failed to trouble Drogs new man between the sticks, Robert Duggan. With the game looking all but over Eric McGill was dismissed for his second yellow of the game.
Bray were fully deserving of the victory as they were more organised and less wasteful throughout. Drogheda's worries continue as Galway United widened the gap between the sides with a win over UCD tonight.
