Drogheda United 0 - 0 Bray Wanderers

Drogheda United and Bray Wanderers played out a highly entertaining scoreless draw in a blustering basement battle at Hunky Dorys Park. The game ebbed and flowed in line with the breeze here as the homeside dominated the first half, but Bray were the more ascendant in the second.
Drogheda almost opened the scoring after only two minutes as left back Eoghan Osborne hit a sweetly struck shot from 30 yards out which had Kane scrambling across his goal but the ball just dragged wide.
This effort was quickly followed by a series of pop shots from the Boynesiders as Bray crowded their box in an effort to restrict the homeside.
Brian Kane was the hero for the visitors in the first half, the keeper pulling off a series of saves to keep his side in the match. The most impressive coming just before the break when from a Ryan Brennan corner Joe Kendrick headed straight into the goal forcing Kane to block the shot with his foot and Jamie Duffy was denied on the follow up by a series of Bray bodies diving at the ball.
The visitor’s only real effort in the first half came on the stroke of halftime when they were awarded a free from 20 yards out. Richie Baker saw his shot lift over the Drogheda wall but curl wide of the post with Drogheda debutant Paul Murphy scrambling across.
Eddie Gormley’s side had the ball in the net after 55 minutes but the goal was disallowed for a foul on Alan McNally by Tresson who netted. Baker then saw an effort skew back off the opposite post as Dane Massey sent in a free which missed everyone in the Drogheda box and was connected with by the Bray striker.
It was then Baker who had a goal disallowed after being assisted by John Mulroy, the midfielder was seen to be offside as he beat Murphy. Drogheda almost stole a late winner as Mick Daly saw his shot flash across the Bray goal but it ended as a draw seeing Bray notch up their first point of the season and leave Drogheda still searching for their first league win.
