Waterford United return to the RSC this Friday evening as they look to get their promotion bid back on track against an in-form Longford Town. Kick-off 7.45pm.
The Blues have been struggling lately as have slipped up in their race to stay in the play-off spots. Last weekend Waterford came away from Ballybofey with a share of the spoils after Willie John Kiely grabbed an equaliser, but it was only Waterford’s second point from a possible last nine.
Stephen Henderson should have a full squad to choose from with midfielder Paul McCarthy expected to brush off a dead leg and be available.
Longford Town have been Waterford’s bogey side in cup competition for the last number of years, but games at the RSC haven’t gone Longford’s way since 2006, and have lost on their last three visits to the south east.
The Town have only lost once in the last five games, but their away form isn’t great recently with only six points on the road in nine games. Five of them have been defeats. Despite good recent form Longford sit fourth from bottom on the table while The Blues lie third, two points second placed Monaghan United and 12 points behind league leaders Derry City.
Extratime Prediction: A tough game for Waterford but should have too much for Longford.
