After the midweek loss in the Europa Cup to Albanian opposition, Sligo Rovers attention returns to domestic matters when they welcome an ever improving Drogheda United. If the Louth men can win this game they will leapfrog Rovers into 8th place. A win for Sligo will see them move to 7th passing Galway United on the way.
Sligo have lost their last three league games and manager Paul Cook will be looking for a strong performance, to boost moral ahead of the away Europa leg. He will need to plan for the game without the services of Gavin Peers and Jason Noctor, as both players are suspended for the clash. Stephen Parkhouse is still out with a knee injury.
Drogheda’s form has dramatically improved compared to the start of their league campaign. They are now unbeaten in the last four games, suffering only one loss in the last seven outings.
Apart from long term absentee’s Steve Williams and Robbie Farrell Drogheda have a full complement of players. Paul Crowley is available for selection once again.
Manager Alan Mathews will be looking for his team to continue their run of good form.
“Everyone apart from Steve Williams and Robbie Farrell has returned with a clean bill of health after the break. We are at the halfway point in the season and every game is a big game.
We need to pick up where we left off and that’s what we will be looking to do on Sunday. There is a long way to go and we aren’t anywhere near safety just yet.”
The game kicks off at 7:45.
