In-form Shels face in-form Limerick at Tolka Park on Saturday night in a game which will decide where the title ends up at the end of an incredibly competitive season in the eircom first division. Shels are top by a point so a victory would seal promotion, but Dundalk will be hoping that Limerick do them a favour and turn over Shels at Tolka Park for the second time this season.
Shels are on a long unbeaten run, collecting 20 points from the last 24 available, with Limerick collecting 17 points during the same spell so both sides will be confident going into this one. Shels won both games in Limerick this season but lost at Tolka during the summer, quite convincingly too.
Shels are missing Robbie Hedderman (suspended), Darren Forsyth (ankle) and Gary McCabe (ankle). For Limerick, John Tierney and Brendan Daly are both out with ankle injuries. Paul Danaher is suspended after picking up five yellow cards so far this season, while Gary Sheahan and captain Pat Purcel both face late fitness tests because of groin strains.
The game kicks off at an earlier than usual 7.45 and promises to be quite the busy affair. Throughout the season, Shels have been attracting roughly 1000 fans a game however expect far more to turn up this time.
Extratime.ie prediction: One of those ridiculously annoying 1-0 wins. Shels’ score early and just sit back…
