DLR Waves 1 - 2 Castlebar Celtic

Castlebar Celtic climbed into fourth spot with a 2-1 away victory at DLR Waves on Sunday. Katie McCarthy scored for the home side with Trish Moran and Emma Mullin netting for Castlebar.

DLR created a lot of early chances without putting them away before Celtic broke the deadlock after Moran scored from a close range finish after a delivery from Lucy Hannon bounced around the goalmouth and Mullin extended the visiting side’s lead on the half hour with a low strike from 25 yards.

Syliva Gee’s cross was diverted home by McCarthy from close range to pull it back to 2-1 with 20 minutes left and McCarthy had an equaliser ruled out after the referee adjudged that the Celtic keeper had been fouled in the build-up.

Hannon might have claimed a third goal on the break but DLR averted the danger on that occasion. Waves failed to find the leveller and Castlebar travelled home with the three points.
