Blizzard at the RSC
A blizzard of snow caused the abandonment of Monday night’s EA Sports League cup tie between Waterford United and Cobh Ramblers at the RSC.
Cork referee Graham Kelly arrived at the ground that was covered in snow and after giving the pitch every chance, it was rightly decided that the game be called off at 7.10pm.
Although there was no initial problem with the playing surface, referee Kelly was forced to call off the game due to the fact that it was impossible to see the lines on the pitch.
It has to be said that neither Blues manager Paul O’Brien nor Cobh Ramblers boss Dave Hill or both sets of players had any quam with the decision of the match official to postpone to contest.
There is no date set as of yet for re-fixture.
