Shelbourne vs Wexford Youths

Wexford Youths travel to Tolka Park tonight attempting to match their feat from last week when they comfortably beat highflying Dundalk, that following on from a win over Kildare County. Wexford have been dealt a serious blow however, with the news that top-scorer Gavin Doyle, who scored twice against Dundalk, is ruled out with injury.

“Gavin picked up a back injury training this week so he's out, which is a massive blow,” Wexford manager Mick Wallace said. “Paul Murphy is out for the season as well so we're missing our two top scorers and we have to travel to face the League leaders.”

Shels’ are sitting pretty following three successive victories, and know that a victory tonight would return them tot the top of the table. With a marginally superior goal difference, a victory would be nice, but one with a significant goal haul would be very valuable indeed.

On the injury front things are not so rosy, with injuries to Gary McCabe, who picked up an ankle injury last week and Philly Gorman, who is suffering from a groin injury which may keep him sidelined for the rest of the season.

Club captain Damien Brennan and James Keddy return to the side however, having missed last weeks win over Athlone.

Shels’ have seven from a possible nine points against the Youths so far this season, and with the key injuries to Wexford this time around, it is very hard to see the hosts mess up this one.
