Quarter-final draws made for three FAI Cup competitions

The draws have been made for the quarter-finals of three FAI Cup competitions - the FAI Umbro Intermediate Cup, the FAI U17 Cup and the FAI Youth Inter League Cup. The Intermediate and U17 Cup games will take place on week-ending March 3 with the Inter-League Youth Cup ties scheduled for the following weekend.
In the FAI Umbro Intermediate Cup, holders Avondale United, who are bidding for a unique three-in-a-row, will have home advantage in the last eight if they manage to overcome Cork rivals College Corinthians in their outstanding Fourth Round tie. The winners of that game will be the only non-Leinster Senior League side left in the competition and will face wither Glenville or Beggsboro. Because of postponements and replays only one quarter-final tie is definitely known at this stage and that’s the all-Dublin clash between Phoenix and Tolka Rovers.
In the FAI Umbro U17 Cup the holders St Kevin’s Boys have been drawn away to Newtown United from the Meath & District League while the two Connacht sides remaining in the competition, Mervue United and Manulla have both been handed home draws against Munster opposition.
In the FAI Youth Inter-League Cup the holders, Cork Youth Leagues, must travel to Waterford while the Dublin & District Schoolboys League are away to the Tipperary Southern & District League. The Inishowen Youth League have been given a home draw against the Wexford League and the final quarter-final tie is a repeat of the 2009 final between Galway & District League and Dublin’s Athletic Union League, which the visitors won.
