Cobh awarded league license

After much speculation, the FAI today confirmed that Cobh Ramblers have been awarded a First Division license for the coming 2013 season.

Pending licenses being issued to the other applicants when the licensing committee sits again in mid February, the decision boosts membership of the First Division back up to eight.

Cobh last competed in the national league back in 2008 when they finished second bottom of the Premier Division. Relegation became a moot point when the club were denied a license for the following season due to financial issues.

Cobh have regularly applied, unsuccessfully, for a league license in the intervening years and have had to make do with competing in the A Championship and U19 leagues.
