Rovers secure Ventre re-signing
Sligo Rovers have confirmed the club have re-signed influential midfielder Danny Ventre for the 2013 season.
Ventre captained the team as they captured the Airtricity League title in 2012 to add to the two FAI Cups and League Cup titles previously won in his time at the club since joining in 2007.
The Liverpool born player will look to break the 200 appearances barrier for the Bit o’ Red in the new season as Ventre has 194 appearances for the club to date.
The 26-year-old told sligorovers.com this afternoon: “We have a title to try and defend now and I’m delighted to be secure my future with Sligo Rovers. It is nice to put it to bed and a relief.
“It took some time to get everything sorted and I can't wait now to concentrate on working hard and trying to become league champions again.
“I think the new lads that have come in will be very keen to impress. I’m looking forward to working with Ian again and you see the calibre of assistant he has brought in with Gary Stevens which is something I think the players will relish too. He is someone I’m looking forward to getting to know and just getting back with the lads to start the hard work again.
“It was a great honour to achieve what we did last season, and so much more as captain. That is something we can hopefully strive for again and I think we'll all be driven to go for it.”
