Waterford United have confirmed the signing of seven players for the 2013 First Division season.

Chairman John O’Sullivan last week indicated that much of the work in securing players would be done this week, and the club have wasted no time in announcing some new players.

Defender John Frost, midfielder Peter Higgins and striker Daragh Walshe have all re-signed from last season’s squad.

The club have confirmed that two of the club’s Under-19 squad will make the move to the first team for the season. Left-back Jamie Cross, who made six appearance last season for the senior team, has made the move to join Paul O’Brien’s squad for the 2013 season. Joining Cross in making the move to the first team is Kevin O’Connor, a member of the Leinster Schools squad, which earned him a place in Paul Doolin's Ireland U18 set-up.

Two new players joining the club are Paul Quilty and Francis Rockett. Quilty, a striker, is renowned as one of the best strikers in junior football in Waterford during his time with Waterford Crystal and Tramore, while Francis Rockett re-joins the club having played under Jimmy McGeogh ten years ago. Rockett also joins the club from Tramore.
