Brady and Meyler sign permanent deals with Hull

The KC Stadium will be a venue of interest for Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni for the rest of the season, as two members of the Republic of Ireland squad today agreed permanent deals to join Hull City.

Midfield duo David Meyler and Robbie Brady have signed permanent deals with the club, having both spent time on loan at the club earlier this year. Meyler, 23, has joined from Sunderland for a fee believed to be in the region of £1.5million, while Brady, 20, has joined from Manchester United for around £2million.

Former Cork City player Meyler joined Sunderland in 2008, and having started his career on Wearside brightly, his progress was hampered by two serious knee injuries. Having found first team opportunities hard to come by at Sunderland, manager Martin O’Neill loaned him to Hull where he has been in excellent form, contributing 3 goals in 10 games.

Brady is a player who had been earmarked to make strides at Old Trafford this season, having featured in the Red Devils’ pre-season campaign. However, having made just one competitive appearance for United, he joined Hull on an initial loan until January.

With both players set for regular action, it is a welcome boost for Trapattoni, who has included both players in his most recent squads.
