Scully names PFAI Ireland squad for 2013 FIFPRO Tournament
Eighteen out of contract players have been named in Pat Scully’s squad for the 2013 FIFPRO Tournament to be played on Thursday January 10th 2013 at the Vallhall Arena, Oslo, Norway. Ireland will be joined at the tournament by hosts Norway along with Sweden and Finland as the competition is staged in Norway for a third consecutive year.
The Irish team will look to impress and go one step further than 2012 when the Irish team had to settle for the runners up spot. Scully will look to the likes of Mark Rossiter, Tadgh Purcell and Stephen O’Flynn to provide some experience as Ireland train at the Vallhall Arena on Wednesday before taking on Norway on Thursday.
Manager Pat Scully said, “I’m really looking forward to the tournament. The preparations have been good, we’ve been training since the end of November and we played 2 games (v Malahide United, lost 2-1 and Glebe North, won 1-0). This is a great experience for both the players and staff, and we’re all looking forward to kicking off the event on Thursday morning.”
