Paul O’Brien is to continue as Waterford United manager for the 2013 First Division season.

O'Brien had his first full season as Blues boss last season after taking over from Stephen Henderson midway through the 2011 season. Billy Hearne, who assisted O’Brien last season, will remain on the coaching staff.

Chairman John O’Sullivan, speaking on local radio on Thursday, confirmed that the club had been in contact with players for the new season and that they would be assembling a 22-man squad.

Although the club are still awaiting the make-up of the First Division season along with confirmation of the fixture list, the Blues squad are due to return to training within ten days.

The Blues narrowly missed out on promotion last season after a play-off defeat to Dundalk.
