Sligo Rovers have confirmed that Haitian International Pascal Millien has re-signed with the Airtricity League Champions for the 2013 season.

Millien, a fan favourite at The Showgrounds, agreed a new contract with the club following a spell with the Haiti national side earlier this month as they reached the Semi-Final of the Caribbean Cup and moved up to the 39th in the FIFA World rankings, the highest ever placing for the country.

As a result of their Semi-Final finish, they have qualified for the Gold Cup which takes place during the summer and could see the 26-year-old miss up to three weeks of the season, including a UEFA Champions League game.

Despite arriving in Ireland with six games gone due to issues obtaining his work permit, Pascal settled in quickly and scored a wonder strike in a memorable cameo performance during his first home league appearance for his new club in a 3-0 victory over Shelbourne.

Ian Baraclough spoke to sligorovers.com after securing the signature of the winger for another year and believes he will benefit from having a full pre-season schedule to prepare for the coming season and an added boost of confidence following a successful month on International duty.

“Pascal is something different to what is in our squad and in the league as a whole. He has potential to create something, to change a game and is a very useful option to us. It will be a big benefit that he will be able to complete a full pre-season this year and now he has the experience of a year under his belt in the league and becoming a champion. He will also have the added confidence of helping his country qualify for the Gold Cup in recent weeks in a FIFA recognised tournament which is another boost for him and I expect he will have a spring in his step next month."
