Dundalk FC have bolstered their squad with the re-signing of Stephen McDonnell and the new arrival of Richie Towell.

McDonnell, who operates in midfield has re-signed for a fourth season with the Lilywhites having signed under Ian Foster in 2010. The former Celtic youth put in some impressive performances up until he suffered a serious knee injury in May 2011. For 2012, he was a regular in the starting XI and scored the crucial equalising goal in the first leg of the promotion/relegation playoff against Waterford United a few weeks ago.

Joining McDonnell is 21 year-old full-back Richie Towell. The former Ireland underage international, who was room-mates with McDonnell, joins the club having spent time as a youth with Celtic and also spent time on loan with Pat Fenlon at Hibernian, appearing in no fewer than 30 games in the SPL.

The addition of McDonnell and Towell brings Stephen Kenny’s squad to 10 as he continues to rebuild ahead of season 2013. The former Celtic duo joins the re-signed Eoghan Osbourne and John Mountney along with the new arrivals of John Dillon, Patrick Hoban, Keith Ward, Andy Boyle, Dane Massey and Tiarnan Mulvenna. These are busy times for the Lilywhites and Kenny will be looking to add to the squad in the coming days. Stay tuned to extratime.ie for all the latest news from Oriel Park!
