Oman signs on again with Hoops for 2013

Shamrock Rovers have confirmed that centre-half Ken Oman has re-signed with the Hoops for the 2013 Airtricity League season as manager Trevor Croly continues to strengthen his Rovers squad.

The 30-year old defender was signed by Rovers in 2011 by then manager Michael O’Neill from Bohemians where he had won two league titles.  The Finglas native won another league title with Rovers in 2011.  He came back after a three month injury layoff to score a crucial goal on the night Rovers won the league in Belfield in the penultimate game of that season.  He also scored against Rubin Kazan in Russia in Rovers’ Europe League campaign.

Last season was not so successful for Oman and his club who conceded their league title to Sligo Rovers well before the end of the season and were eliminated early from Europe.  “Last season was obviously very disappointing for us,” admitted Oman who captained Rovers last season.  “I’m pleased to have to chance to be part of the squad again next year as we look to put that right.  Having signed back, I’m now looking forward to the new season getting started and helping the club get back to where it should be.”
