Dundalk have announced the return of hometown striker Tiarnan Mulvenna.

Mulvenna, who left the club midway through the 2010 season in search of first-team football, spent an unsuccessful stint with Shelbourne, where he had to sit out the first half of the season.

In July of 2011, he linked up with Drogheda United for the remainder of 2011 and he was part of the highly successful squad of 2012 which remarkably finished 2nd to champions Sligo Rovers and also picked up an EA Sports Cup.

The 24-year-old is returning to Oriel Park for a second spell having spent his youth years at the club before becoming a regular during the successful First Division campaign where he collected a winner’s medal in 2008 and spent a season and a half in the Premier Division before departing. During that spell, the Dundalk native netted 14 goals in 88 appearances.

Mulvenna becomes new manager Stephen Kenny’s 8th signing as he continues his rebuilding joining the re-signed Eoghan Osbourne, John Mountney along with the new additions of John Dillon, Patrick Hoban, Keith Ward, Andy Boyle and Dane Massey. These are busy times for the Lilywhites and Kenny will be looking to add to the squad in the coming days. Stay tuned to extratime.ie for all the latest news from Oriel Park.
