Boyle signs on at Oriel
Dundalk FC have this morning confirmed the signing of defender Andy Boyle as the club continue their rebuilding for the new season.
Boyle joins the Lilywhites from Shelbourne where he spent the past two seasons and quickly became one of the most highly regarded young players in the League of Ireland. A former Student, the 21-year-old spent three seasons at UCD picking up a First Division winners medal with the club in 2010 and after spending a season in the top flight, he moved back to the First Division again to sign for Alan Mathews’ Shelbourne.
With the Drumcondra outfit, Boyle helped the club to promotion and also was part of the team which finished runners-up to Sligo Rovers in the 2011 FAI Cup. He was a regular in the Shels line up throughout 2012 as they finished safely in mid-table.
In making the trip down the M1, Boyle becomes new manager Stephen Kenny’s 6th signing of the season, joining the retained pair of John Mountney and Eoghan Osbourne while he becomes a new signing along with Patrick Hoban, John Dillon and Keith Ward. Dundalk are expected to confirm more signings over the coming days so stay tuned to extratime.ie for all the latest news from Oriel Park!
