Greene returns to Sligo Rovers
Sligo Rovers have added the signing of former player Aaron Greene to their squad for the upcoming 2013 season. This will be Greene's second spell at the at club having spent the 2011 season with the current Airtricity League champions.
The 22 year old joins the club from Shamrock Rovers, and is an accomplished striker, left winger or left back. The 2011 FAI Cup winner will be remembered by Hoops fans and historians as he scored the only goal in as the Hoops 1-0 victory in the Leinster Senior Cup final against St. Pats CY.
Speaking to the official club website Sligo Rovers manager Ian Baraclough said, "It is a pleasing signing and a great addition to the squad. Aaron brings a lot of quality and despite being only 22-years-old, he has considerable experience already and a determination to develop his career with Sligo Rovers."
The decision to join Rovers was an easy one for Greene.
"It is fantastic to have to the opportunity to link up with the league champions and my former team-mates, it was something I jumped at and an easy decision for me to make," said the former under-21 international.
"I look forward to contributing to the team's efforts next year. As well as my regard for the club, the professionalism and approach of Ian Baraclough was an important factor for me and I can’t wait to get down to work in the new season."
