A new book charting the history of Shamrock Rovers will be launched this Sunday (2 December) by new Rovers manager Trevor Croly.  The book is written by Robert Goggins and traces the football club’s history from the club’s foundation in Ringsend in 1901 right up to the present day in Tallaght.  It is a chronological history of the club listing significant events in the club’s history as well as looking in depth at some of the more high-profile happenings over the years.

The book gives a run-down of each season including the trophies won, league position and some significant on and off the field events.  Goggins also explores some key events and topics such as the infamous closure of Glenmalure Park in Milltown and tries to answer the question as to who is the best ever Shamrock Rovers player.  The book is an excellent reference for all things Shamrock Rovers and will be a great resource for fans, journalists and historians alike.

The book’s author Robert Goggins is a former editor of the Shamrock Rovers match programme and has written two books on Rovers previously (The Hoops: A history of Shamrock Rovers published in 1993 with Paul Doolin and The Four-in-a-Row Story published in 2009).

The book launch will take place in the new Shamrock Rovers Megastore on level two of The Square Towncentre at 1pm on Sunday 2 December.
