Shelbourne sign five for 2013

Shelbourne have announced two new signings for 2013, along with news that three key members of last season’s squad will again be playing in red next year.

The new faces at Tolka Park will be Pat Flynn, who spent last season at St Patrick’s Athletic, and Sean Brennan who spent 2012 with the league runners-up Drogheda United.

Flynn made just 8 league appearances for St Pats last season, sitting unused on the subs bench a further 19 times. He scored one league goal, against his former club, Shamrock Rovers, where he played for four seasons between 2008 and 2011.

Brennan won an EA Cup winners medal with Drogheda last term, having followed his former Monaghan United boss, Mick Cooke, to Hunky Dorys Park. He started his league career at Monaghan in the summer of 2008 and spent three and a half years at Gortakeegan, during which time he earned a reputation as one of the First Division’s biggest talents.

The players who will be remaining at Tolka Park, despite a reduced playing budget foe the coming season, are midfielders Glenn Cronin and Stephen Hurley, along with striker Philly Hughes who scored 18 league and cup goals in 2012.
