The Friday Forward - Managerial madness

Credit:

With it being a big week for managerial appointments, from Kenny to Roddy, we thought it would be good to focus on the men in the dugout this Friday - those who are in the most precarious of positions, where even becoming champions of Europe can't ensure security.

From meltdowns to, in, erm, Shteve McClaren's case, immersing themselves in the local environment, these are our favourite clips of managers in the media.

1 Kevin Keegan - I'd love it

You'll have seen this on countless occasions but it’s still the most famous managerial outburst.  Newcastle United led the Premier League by 12 points at one stage in 95/96, but Alex Ferguson's famous mind games got to Kevin Keegan. Live on Sky, after Fergie suggested the opposition would take it easy against the barcoded Toon, Keegan combusted. Needless to say, the team threw it away.

2 Steve McClaren - Yesh

He wasn't in the country a wet week, but Steve McClaren had already mastered his Dutch accent and even seemed to forget how to speak his mother language. Not part of the video, but another classic from McClaren: The Shteve Years was "The strength of the team is the team”. Wanna see it again? Yesh.

3 Brian Clough - There's an awful lot of questions there in one, John

John Motson is often criticised at the BBC, but watching Brian Clough tear him apart is a sight behold. Again, Clough's fearsomeness has been well highlighted but this is nine and a bit minutes of great TV. Interestingly, he says there's too much football on the box...what would he make of wall-to-wall 2012?

4 Rafa Benitez - Fact

Again Alex Ferguson gets inside the head of an opposite number, leading to disastrous consequences for Benitez and hilarity for viewers. "I'm talking about facts," the new Chelsea boss said, before Liverpool went on to draw with Stoke and throw away any hopes they had of a league title.

5 Giovanni Trapattoni – These players were weak like a bottle empty

We can hardly forget our international side's boss going ape at Bayern Munich. At this point, we’ve lost count of his zany remarks as Ireland boss, but he had form coming into the job, as this clip of him at Bayern Munich attests.

"I am tired now the father these players.” Totally getcha, Trap.
