Sligo Rovers have announced the re-signing of goalkeeper Gary Rogers.

Rogers, who joined the The Bit O’Red last season, has signed a new contract that will see him stay with the new champions for the 2013 season.

In his first year at The Showgrounds, he proved to be a safe pair of hands as he conceded just 20 league goals and played an integral part in Rovers title triumph. His form in goal also saw him chosen as a member of the PFAI Team of the Year.

The 31-year-old spoke to sligorovers.com about his new contract, expressing his delighted at sorting out his future.

"It is brilliant to continue my career with Sligo Rovers.

"I'm already looking forward to next year. Rovers are a top club, I really enjoyed my time in Sligo last year and I'm very happy my future here is sorted.

"Winning the league was fantastic, the club has made great strides and we want to continue that with more trophies in 2013."

He also spoke about how he enjoys playing under Ian Baraclough and being one of the more experienced players at the club.

"I enjoy working with Ian Baraclough and being one of the more experienced players in the dressing room and the chance to continue that is something I'm very happy to take."

Rogers is the ninth player to commit his future to Sligo so far, joining Alan Keane, Gavin Peers, Jeff Henderson, Marty Owens, David Cawley, Seamus Conneely, Ryan Connolly and Danny North in putting pen to paper on new deals for next season’s defence of the Airtricity League title.
