Devlin pleased with Bray's season

In their final match of the 2012 Airtricity League season, Bray Wanderers went down to 2-1 to Dundalk at Oriel Park on Friday evening. After the match, their director of football Pat Devlin spoke to extratime.ie and he began by saying his side were beaten by a better team on the night.

"I think on the night we were beaten by the better team. They could have been out of sight to be honest and we did well to hang in there but overall I am pleased in general. Kieran 'Marty' Waters scored a wonderful goal but apart from that we can't complain."

The Seagulls managed to avoid relegation for yet another season and the 3rd under in a row under the stewardship of Devlin, and overall the director of football was pleased with how the season went but conceded the last few weeks could have been better.

"I don't want to make excuses and to lose the last few games is totally unacceptable. I think after we lost to UCD we kind of fell apart a little but lucky for us, Dundalk didn't catch us. We achieved our goal and that was to stay in the Premier League, so overall, I am happy with how the season went."

The Wicklow club don't have the worry of playoffs during the week while the Lilywhites do however, Devlin believes the Louth club will prevail over two legs based on their performance on Friday evening.

"Dundalk played very well tonight and if they had to take their chances it could have been a cricket score! They were excellent and we didn't play overly well but we tried a few new players and players who hadn't played much all season but Dundalk were the best team on the night and if they play like that, they'll win the playoffs."

Of course, the burning question is whether the Bray Wanderers supremo will remain in charge for season 2013 however, the former Shamrock Rovers striker didn't give a definitive answer!

"Are you trying to get a scoop?! We'll leave that for another day."
