Peter Hutton has agreed to remain on as first-team manager of Finn Harps for the 2013 Airtricity League season.

The Harps boss, who took over control of first team affairs following the resignation of Felix Healy as director of football earlier in the season, has put pen to paper over a new deal that could also see him lead the club into the new stadium for the start of the 2014 campaign – the projected target for its completion.

Hutton, having recently masterminded a ten-game unbeaten run before it came to an end on Saturday night, is delighted to remain on at the helm of the Finn Park outfit.

“I’ve agreed to stay at the club for another year with the option for another year on top that as well. When I came in initially along with Felix, I seen it as a sort of process of not just helping to rebuild the team but the club as a whole,” he said.

“And in the last few months I think we’ve made great strides, both on the field and off it. You can certainly see the improvements the first team have made over the last ten or so weeks, while the U19’s are also going really well.”

The Harps boss also revealed that Ciaran Coll has penned a new two-year deal with the club, while Paul McVeigh has extended his stay for another year at least.

Hutton, whose side only have two games left in the season, hopes a few more of the existing squad follow suit over the coming weeks.

He added: “In an ideal world you’d get your squad tied down as soon as possible but hopefully, having signed the two lads for next season, we’ll be able to tie a few more down over the coming weeks. I’ll be talking to them all individually – the players themselves will want to know where they’re futures lie, so that they can have that bit of security. The vast majority have performed very well for me this season but we probably still need to add two or three more players. That’s just the nature of the game.”
