Injury concerns temper Sligo's joy after Dundalk win

The remainder of Sligo defender Alan Keane's season has been thrown into doubt after he revealed that he fractured his metatarsal bone during the Bit 'O Red's 3-0 win over Dundalk at the Showgrounds on Monday evening. 

The Galway man was forced from the pitch in the 25th minute and talking to Extratime.ie after visiting the hospital, he said: "I'm in a cast after fracturing my fifth metatarsal. I am waiting to see a specialist Tuesday or Wednesday"

The in-form Mark Quigley - who opened the scoring for Ian Baraclough's men - also picked up a knock in the first half and was replaced by Liam Buchanan. There is no update as of yet on the ex-Dundalk player's condition. 

Anxiety will be high considering Sligo Rovers have already lost one striker - Danny North - for the rest of the campaign with a cruciate injury.

Meanwhile there was better news for midfielder David Cawley, as it was announced that the Mayo native has signed a new deal which will see the him extend his stay at the Showgrounds until the end of the 2013 season.

The Ballina man has been one of Rovers' standout performers this campaign and his form has seen him twice placed on standby for the Republic of Ireland U21s' Euro 2013 qualifying campaign.
