CORK CITY

Cork City will face Shamrock Rovers for the second time in the space of a week tomorrow evening as they entertain the Hoops at Turners Cross.

As was the case last week, the Rebel Army will have to plan for tomorrow’s game with a lengthy absentee list in mind as John Dunleavy, Colin Healy, Cathal Lordan, Eoghan Murphy, Garry Buckley and Davin O’Neill are all set to miss out through injury, while Mark McNulty, Danny Murphy and Vinny Sullivan are suspended.

Tommy Dunne spoke to CorkCityFC.net ahead of the game and is eager to avenge last week’s exit from the FAI Cup.

“Looking back at last week’s game, I felt there was very little in it over the first seventy minutes. We competed well, but a lapse in concentration from a set-piece gave Rovers the lead, and then they hit a great strike to double their advantage. Up to that point, we had two good chances, and had we taken them it could have been a different story. However we did not take those chances, and we now have to focus on this game and look to pick up the three points here at Turner’s Cross.”

SHAMROCK ROVERS

Shamrock Rovers will be hoping to make it two wins from two against Cork City as they visit Turners Cross tomorrow evening.

In what was turning out to be a dreary night in Tallaght, Tommy Stewart came on to finally spark the game into live as he bagged his first two goals on his return to the Hoops and help them progress to the next round of the FAI Ford Cup.

The visitors will of course now be planning without Chris Turner who departed the club yesterday after almost three years to sign for Scottish side Dumbarton FC. Meanwhile Graham Gartland and Stephen O’Donnell have both been ruled out through injury.

Stephen Kenny spoke to Shamrockrovers.ie ahead of tomorrow’s game and is hopeful that his side build on their recent away form.

"We have three away wins in a row now, and we want to keep that going. This is our second time to face Cork in a week and we will be looking for a similar result tomorrow.

"You have to fight for everything you get at Turner's Cross, and I've no doubt that'll be the same tomorrow. But we will travel to the game by confidence."

Referee: Paul Tuite.
