Kilduff confirms contract extension with Rovers

Shamrock Rovers have confirmed that their 23-old-striker Ciarán Kilduff has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club till the end of 2014.

“This was a very easy decision for me to make,” said Kilduff. “Besides my time at UCD, I’ve been a Shamrock Rovers player since I was 16, and I am very happy to be staying.  I’m really delighted to be extending my time at Shamrock Rovers by at least another two years.”

It has been a difficult last six months for the Shamrock Rovers striker who has just returned to action with the Hoops having had to overcome the first significant injury of his career.  He broke his fifth metatarsal during pre-season training in February.  There were complications with the injury and Kilduff was required to wear a protective boot for three months.

The 6 foot 3 striker has only just returned to first team action in August but has been in good form since coming back into the league champions’ squad.  He had a man-of-the-match winning performance in the EA Sports cup semi-final win over Limerick where he scored two goals.  He also scored the opening goal in the recent Rovers’ 2-0 win over Drogheda United.

“Having missed so much of the season, I feel I’m trying to make up for lost time at the moment,” said the player who scored six league goals for the Hoops in 2011.  “But I really want to push on now and do as well as I can for the club.”
